Champion Motorcycles in Costa Mesa has a long history of excellence in motorcycling.

Champion Motorcycles has been a family operated business for over 30 years now. Purchased by Lee Fleming in March of 1977; Champion Motorcycles has a sales, parts, finance, and service department.

Lee, a motorcycle enthusiast, started road racing street bikes in 1971. He attained success in several class championships and held lap records at multiple tracks including:

Lee’s love for motorcycle racing encouraged him to somehow get involved with the motorcycle business. In 1977 he was able to purchase Champion Motorcycles, which was located on Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa. In 1984, Lee was able to expand Champion into its current location at 1590 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, California 92627 where they now sell Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Polaris, and Schwinn products.  

Over the years Champion has earned a reputation of motorcycle racing success. Lee won many AFM, CMC, and ARRA motorcycle class championships. Rick Dondero, the parts manager, Dave Daniel, finance manager, and Eric Gray, top service technician, have all had success with dirt bike racing and go riding almost every weekend. The service manager, Bill Rychlik, has been a mechanic for “Rocket” Rex Staton, while racing an open end 250 Yamaha, and was an owner/mechanic for the championship FIM Box Stock & Production class two years in a row. We have also had several successful racers that are a part of the Champion family who have gone on to win the Daytona 200, World Endurance Championship, and much more!

Champion Motorcycles has a full team of knowledgeable enthusiasts to answer any questions you might have in order to make the right purchase. In fact, parts representative Mike Boelhouwer has been a customer of Champion Motorcycles since 1977 and Matt Manne, another parts department employee, has owned three CBR’s. Rick Dondero, the parts manager, purchased the first motorcycles from Champion’s Newport location and our service manager, Bill Rychlik, has been with Champion for almost 30 years. We are family owned and operated with many years of experience amongst all our staff.
